About ARE YOU RELATED TO A DOWNHAM/DOWNAM?
"We Judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by
what we already have done." Most people have few if any items that once
belonged to a grandparent or great-grandparent.Rarely is a descendant lucky
enough to have inherited a locket,a comb, watch,a lock of hair, let alone the
family Bible, or old letters, diaries, or Photographs. So, when we find someone
that may have something of the past to share, we are over come by the thought
that it could of belonged to me. So, the sharing of names, dates, places, just
has to be enough for some of us!!That is what Genealogy is all about.
What"MAYFLOWER DESCEDANTS" : The DILTS/DILTZ Family, is made up of Dutch-
German,
Scottish-Irish,and of Indian Hestiage. The Dilts name went through many
spelling thru the Generations. It's originall spelling was wrote like this:
DILSS.
This Family came originally from Germany. They traveled across the sea
from Germany, then from Delaware,New Jersey,Pennsylvania,Ohio, and then on into
Indiana. Some even went West. The Dilts spelling went from
DILSS/DILS/DILTZ/DILTS.I have used the spelling DILTS most of the time,
because it was less confusing. So, in your searches ,all spellings must come
into play.
The DOWNHAM/DOWNAM Family,is made up of Welsh,French,Dutch,German,English,
Indian Hestiage. My Grandfather Jeppie Walter DOWNHAM/DOWNAM dropped the (H)
from his name, because of conflict within the family. My Website is still
under alot of construction right now. Please be patient
with me, and visit this site again. I will try and place correct information
in as much as possible. So, please understand this information is some that I
have collected over Twenty-seven years. If for some reasons you may find your
name and you feel I am not correct, please E-mail me. If you would like your
name or a name removed please let me know. I am a Dilts/Downam,and I want to
share this with my Downam family.I do not know enough about Computers yet,to
make many comments, but you are free to copy what ever you want, e-mail me
with more. THIS SITE BELONGS TO YOU AS WELL!!!!!! Susie

Hit "Tree" then Ahnentafel Link when you have found their names, and then
their hestiage lineage should come up.If you are a direct descendant of Jeppie
W. Downham/Downam, then find your parents name, then yours, hit the Tree, then
Ahnentafel, and it will give you your lineage. Good Luck Susie.

Newsome.

INDIAN HESTIGAE: There is both a Federal recognition status and a Tribal
recognition. Federal Recognition is by a definitive, proven blood quantity,
(1/216th.or better)and inspite of the fact that one can be proven to be
descended, one cannot be Federally recognized with less than that amount
stated above.
